The Indonesian E-commerce Association (idEA) participates in the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) Latest Developments and the Future of E-commerce in Indonesia and its Tax Aspect held by Directorate of Business Process Transformation, Directorate General of Taxes Ministry of Finance in Jakarta on Thursday (12 / 10).

Present on behalf of idEA in the event are Bima Laga, Chief of Tax, Infrastructure, Security Idri idber. On the occasion, Bima reviews about e-commerce landscape in Indonesia.

After that, Bima responded about the government's plan to enact an e-commerce tax. According to Bima, all e-commerce entrepreneurs should sit together with the government before this policy is implemented.

"Especially until now we have not been able to explain from the Director General of Tax about this," he said.

The government is planning to impose taxes for the perpetrators of e-commerce. This tax levy is one of the efforts of the Directorate General of Tax pursuing 40% of the lack of tax revenue in 2017.

However, the e-commerce actors said this tax should also apply to other over the top (OTT) services such as Facebook and Instagram. Because in various services OTT is also a lot of online trading transactions.
