idEA Internal Discussion with IDA - Customer Data Platform

Based on data from Google Temasek, since 2015 Indonesia is a country with the fastest growth rate of internet users in the world. As a result, Southeast Asia has also become a region with the fastest growth compared to other regions. The digital industry in Indonesia has also experienced a significant increase, but the challenge is how the digital industry can protect customer data, and manage it optimally for business development purposes.

Due to this urgency, on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, the Indonesian E-Commerce Association held an internal discussion with the Indonesia Digital Association (IDA), to discuss the customer data platform. This internal discussion is the beginning of a webinar series related to education about the Customer Data Platform. In describing the importance of understanding the Customer Data Platform, idEA Deputy Chairperson Budi Primawan quoted President Joko Widodo's statement that "data is the new oil". In line with that, the General Chair of IDA, Dian Gemiano, added that data is an asset, which should not fall into the management of other people. Gemi continued, that data protection and management is the shared responsibility of digital industry players. In addition to the Deputy Chairperson of idEA and the Chairperson of IDA, the event was also attended by the management of the idEA Secretariat, representatives from idEA member companies, as well as Cahyanto Arie Wibowo from the IDA Research Department and Ilona Juwita from ProPS as well as IDA members as panelists.
