Coordination Meeting with BNN

Digitalization, including the change in the method of buying and selling transactions from offline to online, has brought various positive impacts on various social and economic sectors. However, there needs to be strict supervision regarding anything that can be transacted online. The reason is that the ease of transacting online can be used by irresponsible people to sell prohibited goods, such as narcotics.

To anticipate this, the National Narcotics Agency of the Republic of Indonesia through the Directorate of Psychopotropics and the Deputy Precursor for the Eradication of BNN held a Coordination Meeting with the theme "Anticipating the Widespread Circulation of Narcotics, Narcotics Precursors, Psychotropics and Dangerous Drugs Traded Through Online Stores (E-Commerce & Marketplace) ”, at the Best Western Premiere Hotel, East Jakarta on Wednesday 18 May 2022. The activity was attended by resource persons from BNN and several other agencies, including the Indonesian E-Commerce Association represented by Rofi Uddarojat as Head of PPGR. Participants in this activity came from various related work units within the BNN, as well as leaders and representatives from the Marketplace, including Tokopedia, Shopee Indonesia, Bukalapak, Lazada, Blibli, and JD.ID.

Police Commissioner. Adri Irniadi, S.I.K., Head of Sub-Directorate of Psychotropics, one of the resource persons at the event underlined the urgency of coordination between relevant agencies in conducting surveillance to anticipate the rampant circulation of narcotics online. Deputy Chairperson of idEA Budi Primawan, who also serves as Vice President of Government Affairs for Lazada Indonesia, welcomed the coordination meeting and ensured that he would fully cooperate for the creation of a safe, convenient and useful online marketplace, especially in controlling drug trafficking in Indonesia.
