Extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of BPOM RI with idEA

Last Friday, 27 May, Bima Laga as the General Chair of the Indonesian E-Commerce Association was present at the Launching of the Friendly Zone Program for Online Promotion of Micro, Small Business, Traditional Medicines and Health Supplements organized by the Indonesian POM. In addition to the launch of the program, on this occasion a memorandum of understanding or MoU was also held between idEA and BPOM RI regarding the supervision of drug trade in the Online Marketplace.

In his remarks, the Chairman of BPOM RI, Dr. Penny K. Lukito, MCP. expressed his appreciation for the cooperation built with idEA over the last three years, which has proven to be able to reduce illegal drug trafficking in the marketplace. However, Penny continued that currently the drug trade in the marketplace has another challenge, namely the act of overclaiming or excessive claims from traders regarding the efficacy of certain drugs. This indicates that socialization activities regarding drug trade regulations still need to be intensified.

For this reason, the POM Agency in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, the Indonesian E-Commerce Association and 8 Marketplaces (Tokopedia, Shopee, Elevenia, Bukalapak, Blibli, Lazada JD.ID, Jakmall) launched the Friendly Zone Program for Online Promotion of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises of Traditional Medicine and Health Supplements. The program is a form of commitment from BPOM RI, Kemenkominfo, and idEA along with 8 Marketplaces to continue to monitor the circulation, delivery, promotion, and advertisement of drug and food sales in trade through electronic systems or e-commerce, in order to create a safe digital drug circulation climate. for society.
