Last Thursday, February 3, the Indonesian E-Commerce Association came online at the invitation of the Director General of Aptika Kominfo in the Discussion on the Draft Indonesian National Work Competency Standards (RSKKNI) related to the establishment of the Data Protection Officer (DPO) ecosystem in Indonesia.

Aware of the massive development of digital technology and the importance of protecting the personal data of all parties, through the discussion, Kominfo invites academics, associations and industry representatives to formulate the competency standards needed to appoint personal data protection officials. The existence of competency standards is expected to make Data Protection Officers (DPOs) have standards with clear occupations, main tasks and career paths, and make it easier for the Industry to find candidates that suit their needs. In addition to ensuring the security of personal data, these competency standards will create employment opportunities for the Indonesian people.

Seeing the urgency, Kominfo urges Industry players to provide advice and views regarding the competencies that DPOs need to master. The input can be submitted through idEA, to be then forwarded to the relevant Directorate at Kominfo.
