IdEA discussions with BPOM
On Wednesday, February 16, the Indonesian E-Commerce Association attended an online communication forum with the Food and Drug Administration (BPOM). This forum aims to provide understanding to business actors about the terms of drug and food sales on online platforms. In fact, the sale of drugs and food is accompanied by overclaim or even completely false claims about a product. 80% of merchants who practice this kind are non-official merchants, which are generally individual businesses. False claims or overclaims can have a fatal impact on consumers.
For this urgency, BPOM requested that online platforms can provide socialization and education to its merchants, so that there are no more misleading claims about products sold online. As an Association that houses Digital Industry players, idEA is ready to support and cooperate to educate non-official MSMEs in order to apply in accordance with regulations and directives from BPOM.
